Are you a skilled and innovative Engineer with a passion for automation, robotics, and designing custom equipment? We are seeking an Automation Engineer to be a key player in our team at Designhawk Innovations, a systems integrator in Chicago, IL.

 

Position: Automation Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL

About Us: Designhawk Innovations is a custom automation systems integrator. We work with manufacturers in and around Chicago to automate processes at their factories through the use of robotics and fixed automation solutions. We pride ourselves in building reliable machines and have an excellent track record with many repeat customers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their manufacturing processes, challenges, and automation objectives.

  • Design, develop, and implement robotic automation solutions that optimize production efficiency, quality, and safety.

  • Integrate various robotic systems, sensors, and control systems to create cohesive and high-performing automated processes.

  • Program and configure robotic systems to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.

  • Perform thorough testing, troubleshooting, and validation of automation solutions to ensure seamless functionality.

  • Provide hands-on training and support to clients' personnel in operating and maintaining the implemented systems.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging robotics technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance our solutions.

 

What we are hoping for:

  • Bachelor's degree in any technical field - Engineering, Computer Science, technical degree, or any related technical field experience.

  • Proven experience for 3+ years with automation technologies (hardware, software, service, programming, etc.)

  • Must be proficient in CAD design. We use Solidworks but experience with other software is equally good.

  • Familiarity with robot programming (we primarily use Epson, Kawasaki, and Universal Robots).

  • Familiarity with PLC programming (we primarily use Panasonic, Beijer, Omron, Unitronics, and Automation Direct

  • Familiarity with electrical systems (we use SkyCAD for electrical design)

  • Familiarity with machine tools (Mill, Lathe, CNC, hand tools)

The most important part is that you have ambition and interest in this industry. We will not stand over your shoulder and tell you what to do. Instead we would rather give you the tools you need to succeed and be impressed with the results. We have weekly project meetings to keep priorities organized and you are expected to handle your work and ask for assistance as needed.
